Kynance Cove

Kynanace Cove, Mermaid’s Pool, a Cornish secret, few people, mostly locals know of it’s existance. In reply to a friend via facebook, I wrote “I still have it (the painting) here. Yesterday evening at Le Canotier, Théhillac may or may not have been inspired, it certainly produced a reaction from ‘children of all ages’ around me.

A mystery within a confidential mystery.

The identity of the person who recently sent me two bottles of excellent French wine is revealed, at least to me…
The story is beautiful and a bit confidential. I’ll explain when I’m allowed to, in about a year’s time. manicles_blancs

Sufficient to say, the person is a craftsman who specializes in musical making instruments, admires my marine paintings so we are helping each other with a project.

Exploring Théhillac (56130).

A photographic essay to share with you.
Yesterday evening I had the privilege of being show parts of the commune of Théhillac (pronounced Tay’ack) and adjacent communes, by the deputy mayor Gilbert Duval, a man with a passion for and extensive knowledge of this district.
We completed our evening together at his home, with a bottle of good white wine from the Loire valley where I discovered, before he retired, Gilbert had a been master craftsman with bronze.
WE share a passion for food, wines, craftsmanship and artwork. Gilbert taught me much about many things including the abundant wild mushrooms of Brittany …
We plan soon, to visit other parts of this watery commune together, Gilbert hopes I will make some paintings of this very Southern Brittany Théhillac commune.
I hope I will make it so.
Would you like to join us?

Food and wine of interest?

Don’t miss this
Major page update, edited, re written:
Joel and Marie These Linquette suggested “why don’t you paint the famous French wine villages”?

I quickly realised the most suitable region to make a start was Bordeaux, and of course it was necessary to repeatedly visit the region, meet interesting people and of course, sample the produce.

Pomerol, baby vines
Pomerol, baby vines, available

Looking beyond my immediate concerns, it was suggested the paintings form a core for an exhibition or more together with products of the region; Paris, London, New York, Monaco were mentioned. Thus we have an opportunity for an exhibition manager and for sponsors.

Historic gems of Plymouth

Today I had the pleasure of visiting the oldest Ashkenazi Synagogue in the English speaking world still in regular use.

The synagogue itself, listed as Grade II, is uniquely beautiful.

It is renowned amongst both Jews and non-Jews for its peaceful and spiritual ambience.
Like all Georgian synagogues it is quite small and is situated very discreetly.
