I’ve painted a series in the Medoc as this modestly priced painting demonstrates, as part of my “Famous Wine Villages of France” series (see this landscape website menu ) and been camping there often.
Meanwhile fires in France in this Medoc region continue to be hot news and serious with another heatwave looming on our horizon :
some fires are now likely to appear to be further North than is generally known;

However, France remains a relatively safe and popular tourist destination.
I have a cousin lives near Revel, not very far from Carcassonne.
Yesterday she said they can smell smoke and there is a fire near Castres.
She said the pompiers from as far as Castelnau de Montmiral (Near Gaillac) were called to help and when they got back their fire station burnt down.
She also said there is a map online that shows were the fires are.

It’ is though very sad for Cap Ferret and the Medoc.
It’s a lovely region or was.
Hopefully the Medoc will be again.😀⚓
