I’ve also found it helpful to disclaim English involvement in the 100 years war🤪.
I tell French acquaintances, it was the French (that goes down well in l’Occitane and most of western France including Brittany🙂) fighting the Plantagenets & Gascons (all ‘French’ peoples now…) and all due to the Norman uninvited invasion of England.

Walk around a bastide

Happy return, well worth a visit,  I recommend you discover the picturesque Castelnau de Montmiral, a remote 13 th century bastide in South West France.

A 13 th century bastide,  Castelnau de Montmiral was built to defend l’Occitane from the “Northern Barbarians”, in other words, the French, Plantagenets, Gascoyne and English, by order of  count Raymond VII of Toulouse.
