Kynanace Cove, Mermaid’s Pool, a Cornish secret, few people, mostly locals know of it’s existance.
In reply to a friend via facebook, I wrote “I still have it (the painting) here.
If you ever get the chance, summer or winter, do visit Kynance Cove. Magnificent, awesome in a winter gale, in summer with a north to easterly wind, sheltered, very safe. Kids like to jump off the small green granite cliffs into the pool.
Amazingly clean clear water a white sand bottom. On one occassion I duck dived in the pool and swam out into the bay via a submerged tunnel, through an undersea garden populated by numerous small fish into a bay strewn with rocks, plants on white sand; quite unforgettable“.
Nearby on the cliff in the valley is a cafe that used to be a fisherman’s cottage.
Last time I was there with my children the staff served excellet Cornish cream teas to tables on the lawn, good Cornish ice creams too.
There was only one cottage and no cars.
It was a mile to walk down to the cove, well worth the ramble.
