Two days full of surprises.

Much later than planned, at last away from  Thehillac. To much to do before I upped anchor…

I love living at Thehillac however I’m looking forward to seeing friends, the awesome scenery and painting in the glorious Tarn region of SW France.
I knew I was almost ‘home’ when the roads became seriously wiggly, I found myself thinking “wow what beautiful countryside”, then I saw Puycelci. ‘

Home’? well I lived in the region for 8 years and did not realise until I left, how it had grown on and in me.
Je suis un peu Tarnais, 10 % peut etre plus…

However, I’m here to work on a specific project at the invitation of Gaillac Municipal to support the promotion of new ‘bio’ wines with an exhibition of some of the most interesting chateaux and Domaines were many of the rare and distinctive wines of Gaillac are produced
The drive was mostly autoroute but Friday traffic and with two jams, one at Bordeaux and the other caused by an accident, so it took longer than usual, 8 and a half hours.
The house I’m supposed to be renting is not ready, ‘quelle surprise’….,  so my very kind and dear to me ‘French’ sister Hélène Ancelet took me into her house.

Soon after we ate together at Les Arcades, of course my treat, in my case a much needed steak, frits and salad washed down with Tarnias wine followed by the best night’s sleep I’ve had in a long time.

I was surprised by how many people in the village greeted and asked after me, I was surprised by an invitation to join as ‘honorary guest’ a two week course at the renowned Painting School of Montmiral and surprised the ‘professor’ took me to a vernisage ate the most grand chateaux in the region, Chateaux de Saurs.
