Project ~ Picturesque Wine Villages of Bordeaux

An Introduction to this project:

Bordeaux wine villages

The Chateaux and vineyards of Bordeaux have been painted many times including by some very distinguished artists.

This wiine villages  project focuses on the villages and communes of Bordeaux, one of the most distinguished interesting and exciting wine producing regions in  France therefore in the world.

the culture, some of the many other occupations, life styles and attractions, often missed by hurrying tourists including the other charms of the region that are less well known via the perspective and unusual colour vision of Gordon Frickers paintings.

We are quietly confident the best is yet to come.

The Bordeaux région, a new perspective, a project in progress, you can follow on Twitter, Facebook and best of all the blog on www.frickers.co.uk

This section of www.frickers.co.uk introduces a few preliminary ideas.

Ask if you would like to know more via the ‘contact us’ page (button top right).

This is a personal introduction for you to the Bordeaux region through the rich colours of Gordon Frickers landscapes.

Warning! – You be seduced and fall in love as I and so many others have, with the glories of Bordeaux region.

‘Picturesque Wine Villages of Bordeaux’: Essentially this project is way of introducing people who are curious and / or are new to the subject of Bordeaux wines and the region, to share the experience by the way of paint and texts, selected villages for exhibition and sale in a non technical, entertaining way including many surprises both visual and in texts.

The name ‘Bordeaux’ is known though out the world, where is Bordeaux, why is it so renowned?

Bordeaux has a unique trading history past and present and is the only wine growing area in France not developed post the dark ages by the church.

Bordeaux enjoys a very long special relationship with England, The Netherlands and the USA.

Many people world wide know the name Bordeaux and associate it with wine but don’t know the individual villages or their variety and the considerable attractions of the districts.

The names roll off one’s tongue with a special fluidity: St Emilion, Sauternes,  Pauillac, Cadillac, Sauveterre, Medoc, Entrée deux MersGraves Canton de Blaye, Castillon la Bataille, many more and the associated region of Gaillac.

These ‘wine art’ paintings will make a memorable introduction, an exhibition together with products of the region suitable for prestigious locations.

It has been suggested, ‘the vernissage to end all vernissage!’

Maybe we can make it so…
What do you think?

Exhibition venues suggested include Paris, London, Monte Carlo and New York.

Suggestions include a bi lingual book and a TV programme possible with a suitable celebrity.

A sample chapter on PDF has been prepared to show how the book ‘Picturesque Wine Village of Bordeaux’ might look.

Do ask via our contact us page or by phone if you would like to be involved…

The project is currently reviewing suggestions and open to partners.

The Bordeaux region is dominated by the great chateaux and famous wines, subjects popular with many artists including some of the most famous, Picasso for example, however this particular project has never been attempted before.

That is, to focus on the villages, the culture, some of the many other occupations, life styles and attractions, including the other charms of the region that are less well known.

~

Gordon Frickers has visited the region six times over several years, learning, sketching, researching, photographing, painting on locations, making contacts and in some cases good friends, most recently last May / June 2013 and again July 2013).

A new dedicated web site is building now.

In France people who can benefit are expressing serious interest.

Gordon Frickers has  several invitations to present the ideas this autumn (2013).

Several other departments notably the Commune de Blaye, Castillon la Bataille, and Cote de Bourg in the region will be featured soon…

A sample bi lingual chapter for a possible book is available to view as are original paintings, the latter currently in Gordon Frickers French studio in Midi Pyrenees.

The actuality is Gordon Frickers could not have chosen a better region for a foray into this world, his special thanks go to Joel and Marie Therese Linquette for the initial inspiration at their table.

Other people are helping, credits will of course appear starting with lovely Alexandra Elzinga; Alex, thank you for the prompt translations for the sample chapter.

This area of France is accessible and affordable; we will give you some good addresses to contact to help you find your way around and as I hope you will agree as you view this growing collection of paintings the Bordeaux region is well worth a visit.

Cheers, bon sante tous, enjoy
