Merchant Navy Day

Merchant Navy Day
The Second World War started on this day in 1939.
This is precisely why the HM Government established ‘Merchant Navy Day’ in 2000 on this anniversary as a national call for all to remember the pivotal role our merchant seafarers play within society.
The bravery and sacrifice of our British merchant seamen has never been fully appreciated by HMG.

Convoy PQ 13, a painting detail
I was honoured to have the gentleman who commissioned it, in my studio.
Three days after the incident he wanted shown here, his ship was sunk and he lost a leg.
This painting of Artic Convoy PQ 13, available as a fine print on canvas for the look and feel of the original from my ‘marine paintings’ website.
A generous contribution from every print sold will go to The Seafarer’s Charity.
