Antibes, and the distant Alps, basking in a warm, richly colourful summer sunset.

Antibes now best known for it’s very picturesque old quarter, a rich source of local life, typically Mediterranean architecture and wide choice of good restaurants,
‘Millionaires Quay’ dominates the harbour entrance with it’s huge super yachts, Antibes being the best deep water port between Toulon and Nice.
Antibes was for centuries a French frontier town on the French boarder with Savoy, a merchant port and fishing village, fortified, vulnerable to raids by Arab pirates.
Antibes today is a vibrant town offering good shopping and with an active port and cove on the headland are mostly given over to yachts.
The old fortifications and impressive citadel are now open to, ‘manned by tourists’, the old walled town has lost none of its charm, offers an abundant selection of restaurants and the possibility of many happy memories, visit, enjoy, & importantly, buy this painting or or commission your own ideas.
This larger work was developed from a study made on location, I still have that original ‘plien aire’ study.
You can find this view and a many a splendid sunset over bays of Cannes and Antibes by visiting the lighthouse on the peninsular between Antibes and Saint Jaun les Pines.
The site also offers unrivalled views of the not so distant Alps.
