Kynance Cove best known for it’s green granite and many glorious feature including pristine sands, crystal waters and natural under water gardens for swimmers with snorkels to explore.
A timeless subject, developed from a location study, this exceptional painting combines a number of techniques, including abstract passages, spatula work and on closer inspection, fascinating precise detail so represents a fine example of the versatile artist’s work and sound investment.
The painting is one of the results of my many visits to the remote Lizard peninsular, West Cornwall.
This remote Mermaids Pool secreted within Kynanace Cove is know to few other than local people and only accessible between half and low tide.
Mermaid’s Pool best approached via Queens Pool from the west side of the main beach.
Mermaid’s Pool at Kynance Cove derived its name from the table rock in its centre where legend tells us, on quiet days mermaids sun bathe.
In Cornish, Porth Keynans, meaning ravine cove which is in the opinion of many the most beautiful cove on the often spectacular Cornish Coast.

Kynance Cove is very near Lizard point, the most Southerly point of England.

A special experience, like entering a sunlight undersea garden of clean sands and rocks covered with a wide variety of plants, inhabited by fish and of course, mermaids.
It is possible to swim through the tunnel into the bay beyond.

Look for the last turning on your right as you approach The Lizard Point village which is the most southerly village in England.
Happily Kynance cove is a National Trust property, there is a car park and a 1/2 mile hike..
The high spring tides purify the beaches all of which submerge.
