Castelenau de Montmiral is one of Les Plus Beaux Villages de France, fortified in the 13th century by order of Count Raymond VII to be a part of the regions defence against “the northern barbarians”.
The colourful Tarn region of France in the heart of l’Occitaine is best known for its rare and famous wines chosen for kings, queens and at least one President of the USA.

This remarkable landscape painting is a view of the 13th century ‘albigeoise‘ bastide of Castelnau de Montmiral, one of
Castelnau as painted here is one of many of experimental paintings I made while based at the Painting School of Montmiral, studying colour relationships and my natural but very unusual colour response.
