Foret de Sivens the paintings

Foret de Sevens 2, a second painting made that day on location in one of the oldest, wildest forests of France.

Foret de Sevens painting was created ‘plien aire’, this landscape painting was inspired and produced in a remarkable brief time.

The first painting was a long slow careful analysis, intense looking, considered painting.

By the time the first painting was complete 4 hours later I had a reasonable understanding of the subject and a quantity of mixed colours to good to waste.

This exceptional second painting is much freer, very original, a semi abstract study that with every viewing invites your imagination to ‘play in time’.

Foret de Sivens is one of only two ancient forests in France that remain un-spoilt, wild.
