Many distinguished people and renowned companies chose Frickers paintings as you can discover by reading my illustrated résumée;

Now gains the struggling light upon the skies,

And far away the the glistening vapours sail,

Down rough steeps the local vinter hyes,

First warmth in brightness is seeping through the vale.

A painting with unique, enduring qualities.

Carcassonne paintings, one of three.

The design was initially marked out in charcoal.

Thus we have accurate strong drawing and painting combined with the raw spontaneous beauty of first impressions.

There are three distinct, neighbouring wine appellations, for the most part set among the hills and woodlands to the south, west and north of the historic city.

Carcassonne wines are not as well known so in effect offer you some delightful surprises at very fair prices.

I’ve been so fortunate as to be able to visit Carcassonne and it’s surroundings many times, I’d like to live there, at least I was provaledged to make carefully considered studies for possible paintings.

Carcassonne stands beside the Aude river in the wide Aude valley with it’s inviting cheque patterns of vineyards, sunflower fields and a rich history which still has echoes of ancient Gauls, Romans, Cathars. The many other peoples who’s hard work & devotion has made South West France the garden of Europe that it undoubtably is today.

Prior to the Roman period, a fortified settlement existed with trading and strategic significance on the hill where Carcassonne now stands.

Carcassonne in its present form it is an outstanding example of a medieval fortified town and UNESCO World Heritage listed.

The tale of Carcassonne include stories of siege and an heroic defense ably lead by the first lady of the city, of the mysterious Cathars, exterminated as corrupter’s of the Roman Catholic doctrine by ‘crusaders’, and not least of it’s remarkable preservation by far sighted folk in the 19 th century.

Carcassonne has been an unforgettable experience for many a traveler and tourist, visited by a very long list of distinguished people, a list as varied as Sir Winston Churchill, Mick Jagger, Mark Twain and Walt Disney.

You are unlikely to be disappointed if you visit Carcassonne!

The Black Mountains.

There are times in winter when the mountains do appear black and white.

Les Montagne Noire are now mostly a Park National home to many remote and surprising areas where you can still find a much older, old France, a region rich in history.

The Black Mountains rise 1,200m from the Toulouse plain, they have both rural charm and scenery to take your breath away, dappled forests and epic mountain lakes where the wooded slopes and pastures merge and seperate.

The tranquility of mountains conceals many gorges guarded by the ruins of ancient chateaux, forts and castles, echos ao fa complex odten a violent history.

Ideal as inspiration for novelists, romantic painters and film sets.

Here that doomed Cathars made their last stand against the Albigensian crusaders in the 13th century, and the French Resistance were active here during the second world war.

A dwindling population live in stone-built villages many of which have stood since the time of the Cathars. There’s a real sense of wilderness.

Wild beasts, boar, deer, others,  roam the woodlands and forest.

Carcassonne Vines

sit on a dusty plain, in wine terms, the western extremity of the Languedoc.

Try exploring this facinating city, enjoying the activities, shops and especially the very good, reasonably prices restaurants of the central plaza.

If you would like to own and enjoy an unusual and very original result working with a famous and instantly recognisable city; this is it.
